IN MEMORY

It is with much sadness that I must inform you of the passing of Cathy  Males' Partner "Max"

Max, the very gentle, perfectly mannered yellow labrador Retriever who charmed everyone at the Working Dog Weekend passed on, in February of 2008.

Max was 11 years old and much loved by all who met him.  In addition to being a great companion to his family Cathy and Jeff and his doggie brothers Radar and Lu.  Max captured the hearts of the many children (and staff) while visiting at Moreland Hills Elementary School for Partners With Paws, and Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital in Cleveland.  Max truly loved his therapy work and had a heart as big as a mountain!  He made a huge difference in the lives of the children he visited with.  Max had the desire to continue visiting even during his battle with cancer - That is how great he was!

Max will be missed very much - but he will never be forgotten.

Cathy recently has passed the evaluation with  her Golden Retriever - Radar,  for Animal Assisted Therapy and Radar hopes to continue the great work Max and Cathy enjoyed.

IN MEMORY

BREEZY

June 13th, 1999 ~ June 5th, 2009

A gentle soul has left us today just 8 days before her 10th birthday. Obedience was never her thing but helping special needs kids was. Thank you, Sweetcheeks for all of the things you shared with us. We will miss your kind and gentle manner, how you loved to hold hands and everything else about you.

Tabermars Arising Breeze

I have known Breezy since Partners With Paws started in 2004, She was remarkable in her first visits to Wickliffe Middle School, making connections with several children, and making them, make connections with her.  I watched her master the art of getting the kids to focus.  Breezy knew that the eye contact she didn't like from other dogs, was just the ticket to getting the kids to focus on her, and it worked!  When she needed to, she was seen putting her paw in or on a childs hand to remind them, Hey I'm here focus on me.  The teachers marveled at Breezy's ability to keep the kids attention - we all did!  Breezy was always so gentle and quiet when visiting schools - she seemed to know because of her breed, or maybe her size that she had to be extra docile - and again her magic worked - it was never long before even the most timid wanted to pet her.  It was my pleasure to work alongside Breezy on many occasions and, Mary, you where pretty good yourself.   Breezy will be deeply missed.

Montana-Blue, TDIA-OV, DELTA Pet Partner, CGC

10/15/98 - 07/17/09

Monty’s passing was very sudden

Montana Blue was gifted with a heart larger than life, and his personality absolutely blossomed with Rebecca’s love and care. The first time I met Monty, I just loved him – everyone did.

Montana Blue came to Rebecca from an abusive and neglectful situation and soon the two became a real team, truly, each one made the other shine. I know, those Monty helped recover at UH and all the kids who saw his big gentle eyes, and learned from him, will never forget him.

Monty wore his costumes with pride – and only Monty could be Cupid on Valentines day and make the best of every minute of it. As long as Monty could sit (yes, all 120 pounds of him) on Rebecca’s lap he would do anything.

Keep watch over us big guy – we will miss you dearly.

IN MEMORY

                                                          Leilu                                               Dreyfus

Leilu was one of those wonderful sensitive, soft, cuddly dogs that would just do anything for the people they visited. Leilu was a long time Pet Pal for Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital. She patiently sat through each and every child offering their hand for a sniff so they could pet her at Safety Towns, and she helped Partners With Paws at every opportunity. Leilu truly had a heart of gold and was always ready to go. She has been part of so many programs, it is impossible to list them all. I had the pleasure to work with Chris and Leilu many times and enjoyed every minute of knowing Leilu. Her softness was such a comfort to so many.

As a final note this website did not exist when Dreyfus, Chris’s beloved Saint Bernard partner passed away. While Leilu was born for therapy work, Dreyfus was born for Chris. Dreyfus truly was one of a kind, his gentleness and good manners made him welcome everywhere. He was a master at carting, and grabbing hearts.

His picture is featured on the Partners With Paws website.

Both Saint Bernards were the "talk of the hospital halls" for their gentle ways with kids. Always a favorite at the reading programs.

Both, Leilu and Dreyfus will be greatly missed by many. A comfort to Chris is that a bit of Leilu and Dreyfus can be seen in the young companions they did their best to teach (and keep in line).

IN MEMORY

KING ARTHUR

King Arthur’s gentle, easy going, love of life and everyone he met is what made him stand out as a therapy dog. He was a greatly loved family dog, the special attention and affection he gave the children at Brady Middle School and most recently Julie Billiart elementary will stay with them a life time. He had a heart of gold and as big as the sky.

King Arthur, your gentle strength and compassion will be remembered and deeply missed

PEPPER

Pepper truly was a partner with Marianna. While Pepper loved to be with people and took her role as therapy dog very seriously, always having the best manners, the most gentle and tolerant nature. What Pepper loved most was being with Marianna, Bob and Vegas. Performing with Partners With Paws drill team, enjoying some agility, Pepper even (in her most amiable manner) entered the obedience show ring for Marianna.   Pepper joined the team at Re-Education Services in Perry in 2004 and was well loved by all - Pepper was voted in as President after a strong campaign during a government class, she always let the kids hug her when they needed a bit of extra comfort.  Broadmoor Schools sensory unit looked forward to Peppers visits and Pepper made sure she visited everyone.  The kids Pepper visited with loved her, as did all of us who knew her and she will be greatly missed.

ELVIS

Elvis loved loved loved therapy work. He always knew instinctively what to do for the kids he visited at Moreland Elementary School – and when to do it.   He could change the mood of a child instantly by snuggling up and letting them lean on him. Elvis was always the gentleman, always impeccably mannered. Elvis adored Mayra and Michael. yet made friends wherever he went, He was the favorite trick or treater in his neighborhood.   Elvis was part of the original team starting the Geauga County Safety Center AAT program where the corrections officers just loved him. Elvis was a true companion. His tricks, and ability to understand every word spoken to him endeared this happy go lucky lab to everyone who met him. He will be greatly missed, and remembered always.
